With the reorganisation brought about by the withdrawal of one of the long-standing partners, the 2013 Gourmet Drive had a different feel to it. No longer able to be branded a "resort event", the occasion was reorganised and run entirely by the Meribel Golf Club association. Despite a lower attendance, the kind of lull that often occurs in the longer-established competitions, the fine weather and superb atmosphere conspired to ensure the event's success. The basic premise of the Gourmet Drive was still very much in evidence : three days of competition and three days of gourmet indulgence-one day at the Blanchot restaurant, one day at the Oree du Bois, and one day-true to the tradition-in the marquees erected next to the 9th hole with the Croix Jean-Claude team. As the competition progressed and the players advanced, we all circulated around the white marquees. Indulging in the gastronomic and golfing experience, everyone slipped into a kind of epicurean hedonism, but soon perked up again, refreshed and ready to continue playing.
